The original “The Sculptor” was done for the Daily Spit Paint group on Facebook. I love the romantic lighting of the original one that I decided to explore the idea a bit further.
Though I absolutely love the lighting of this illustration, I’m not too happy with some aspects of the painting. The angles and vanishing points of the painting are too stiff and not “too open.” The composition feels too “cramped.” Because of this, I had problems spatially placing the sculptor.
This painting is definitely a good learning lesson though.
