Sketchbook Sunday 01.30.2022

January 30, 2022

Everything is business as usual this past week. I even got the chance to do a few more extra speed paints during the weekend, so that was awesome. I have been heavily experimenting with changing my style again. I have been in love with Karel D’Huyvetter’s cinematic-looking speed paints, and I have been trying to emulate the look with no success. I wonder how much reference he is using during his speed paints.

As for my grinds, everything is going smoothly. “Proving Grounds” is going much faster than expected. I mentioned last week how I made some radical changes to the composition of the painting. The changes I made got me scared at tackling the project again. But after I got over my hesitations, I had a pleasant time painting the parts I was missing. The best part of all; the repaints didn’t take nearly as long as I had predicted. My sculpture study of one of Amelie Lundahl’s paintings is giving me a hard time though. I keep overestimating the time it would take for me to accomplish tasks. I really need to just be confident in my approach to doing 3D. I just had to make those decisions quicker.

Anyways, that is all for me this week folks. Enjoy my latest youtube video;
