Sketchbook Sunday 10.04.2021

October 3, 2021

I have been in a pink/blue/purple kick as of late. Pink is a predominant color in my portfolio. A few of my discord friends made note of that. I’ve been trying to watch my use of that color, but I’ve been all about it apparently the past two weeks. My weekend speed paint is all pink and blues;

I spent some time working on “Astronauts” early Saturday morning. The pink and blue speed paint is based on an earlier sketch that I did about three weeks ago. It was a very interesting and detailed sketch that I thought might look good as a speed paint. In truth, it doesn’t look great at all. Some sketches stay better looking as a sketch instead of something else developed. “Astronauts” just happen to be one of those sketches. What I did find interesting about the sketch/painting is the use of the curvilinear perspective. I have done the perspective a few times… but never really as a sketch/speed paint. It is probably a good perspective for me to practice in my compositions. The artist Kim Jung Gi is really great at employing this technique. I’m not at his level… but if I ever want to be this perspective is something I definitely have to practice a lot.

Anyways… happy fall everyone! I’m pretty sure summer is definitely over.

    I don't like ads. I don't think anyone likes ads. But they do play a pivotal role in our lives. In my case, ads help pay the bills. So unfortunately, advertisements will go here. The good news is that I have not set up advertisements for this website yet. Yay! But if you do want to help me out in the smallest of ways, then head over to my YouTube Channel and subscribe.
