This week’s look back take us back about four years ago, when I decided to pick up doing master studies in the old conceptart.org site. One of the very first studies I did was this particular gem;
This painting was about the second or third master study I did. This was definitely the first time I had painted an elderly person, and I can tell you right now, IT IS FUN! I know it sounds weird and all, but painting elderly people are just plain fun and intriguing. It’s all the wrinkles… when all those subtle details are done properly, it just adds volume to the piece. One would think that taking the time to draw all those minute details would be painstaking, but it’s actually surprisingly not. This piece didn’t even really take me that long to create. I spent only roughly an hour or two on this gem. But man I swear it looks precious.
Anyways, if you haven’t had the chance to do an elderly people study, you totally should. It is immensely satisfying.
